Welcome students and families.
I am delighted that you will be joining me in your computer studies. This packet provides important material for you to read.
Course Content. Attached is the course blueprint from our N.C. Course of Study. All lesson plans, class activities and tests are built from this material and the VOCAT's test bank provided by the State. Students will be given a state End of Course Test at the completion of the course to determine their level of achievement. The test will count as the final exam for this course (25% of the course grade).
Procedures. Students are expected to abide by all Classroom Procedures/Rules and the attached Computer Lab Rules. The students will need a 1-inch three-ring binder for their class notebook. No diskettes, CD’s, or flash drives are necessary.
This course is taught using a blended course design. Some objectives and content will be delivered face to face by the instructor and some will be delivered online using the Blackboard Course Management System.
Attendance, Tardy and Makeup. All course attendance and tardy policies apply in this course. Students should make an appointment for this makeup time within one week of their absence.
Grading. Student progress can be followed using the online Parent Assistant. Report Cards will be given to students at the end of each quarter. Grading is done on a total points basis. No bonus is planned or should be expected. Quizzes and tests on class notes, vocabulary, and final reviews will be used to evaluate students. Also, a strong emphasis is placed on performance problems using the computer. Business Test Days are Tuesday and Friday.
