Word Certification Review - 2 Character / Paragraph Formatting
FYI. Students will continue to practice MOS skills acquired from their guided practice (step-by-step) assignments to prepare for their certification exam. The lesson below will allow students to MS Word features for character and paragraph modification. ________________________________________________________________
A. (60 min.) Projects STUDENT OBJECTIVES
Understand the function, form, and effectiveness of a resume by examining and discussing sample resumes with their classmates
Demonstrate the importance of rhetorical situations by selling themselves to a defined audience
Develop a working resume by using the Resume Generator
Recognize how a cover letter works in conjunction with a resume by drafting them for a similar purpose
Write a cover letter by using the Letter Generator
Function of a Resume:
The function of a resume is to inform the audience about you in order to accomplish something. What you’re trying to accomplish depends on what you’re trying to do.
This might include getting a job, getting into college, winning a scholarship, or being selected for an internship. There are many reasons to show people your resume.
C. (10 min.) Learning Extentions Keyboarding Practice Lesson reflections (projects) are used to reinforce prior skills learned as student progress in the course and as they transition from middle to high school. These learning tools will enable students to apply basic life skills to their young adult life in college and beyond.
Project 1 - Typing Speed - HS Students
Students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 who have been practicing keyboarding for several years are at an advantage because keyboarding is a cumulative skill. Students at this level should be practicing a few times a week in a typing program such as Type to Learn or Typing Club.
They should be using keyboarding skills for most of their assignments. Students should be able to type faster than they can write their assignment. A general goal of speed is 5 words per minute per grade level, or 35-45 words for grades 6-8.
Students at this level should have the keyboard memorized. Students will have several attempts to practice their typing skills by accessing the typing games below. Students with a 45 pm will receive their certificate at the end of the quarter.
Practice Typing Lesson link is below (unlimited - games). Typing Certificates (GOAL: 5 min. - 45 wpm) will be presented at the end of the semester, as well as MOS Certificate for students that score 700+ on their Exam. Typing Test - 2/29/2016 during Bell Ringer.
